Hotel Recommendations
Thank you Renata De Ulhoa Tabellion for pulling this together for us.
In San Carlos or Redwood Shores
HOTEL
Grand Bay Hotel (former Sofitel) in Redwood Shores (may be listed as Belmont, Redwood Shores or redwood City). More traditional hotel set up and tends to have competitive rates for the weekends (the bulk of their business is work-related weekday guests). No breakfast included. https://grandbayhotelsf.com/ map
MOTEL
Good Living Inn. More on the motel side, and not particularly good looking on the outside but has well kept, clean and modern/”refreshed” rooms. No breakfast included.

SUITES
Residence Inn by Marriott. Higher rates than the SpringHill suites recommended below in Belmont but MUCH larger units (with a 2 bedroom option). Great if coming with family or for splitting with another PDIer who wants to have their own room but still spend more time together/hangout. Full breakfast is included.

One exit north of San Carlos
TOP RECOMMENDATION
SpringHill Suites Belmont Redwood Shores (by Marriott). Probably the newest of them all, and best bang for the bucks. It is on the “suite” category but it is sized more like a hotel room with a couch and basic kitchen amenities; it tends to have rates that are competitive and potentially lower than the regular hotel/motel options. Breakfast is included.

ALSO AN OPTION
Hyatt House in Belmont/Redwood Shores; not as new as some of the other options but comparable in size to Marriott. Price tends to be slightly lower than Marriott Residence Inn but floorpan is not as good (you need to walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom). Only really worth it if you have Hyatt points, as you can get great point rates there. Pretty good breakfast included.

Suites are great option if coming with family or if you want to make joint plans with someone else that you would like to hang out for more of your stay (at Marriott Residence and Hyatt House there are 1 and 2 bedroom options). If you sign up to be an Expedia member (free membership) they tend to have extra discounts on all the properties I am mentioning above. All of these properties would be a short ride from the Brewery, one highway exit away or closer!
Redwood City
If looking for something closer to downtown Redwood City to check out how the area developed in the past few years (lots of nice brunch/lunch options):
HOTEL
Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast included

MOTEL
Redwood Creek Inn. Not very pretty but nice location to Broadway Ave/Restaurants.

Near SFO
If looking for something closer to SFO (airport) for an early flight back home:
Aloft, Westin, Marriott Waterfront, Hyatt Regency (great Hyatt point rates; Grand Hyatt is closer to airport but much more expensive).
